Insurance Claims
Last updated: 26 January 2025
A stone off the M5 cracks your windscreen, and suddenly you're facing insurer hold music on top of everything else. Skip it. Whether it's a chip repair or a full windscreen replacement, we deal with your insurer and do the paperwork: your job is just to tell us where the car is.
Insurance Partners
Every Australian insurer is welcome here. The ones we deal with most often:
- NRMA Insurance
- AAMI
- QBE Insurance
- Youi
- Shannons
- Suncorp
- Allianz
- GIO
- Budget Direct
- Plus every other insurer
Insurer not on that list? Makes no difference to us: we can still run your claim. Just have your policy details ready when you call.
How the Claims Process Works
- Get in touch
Ring (02) 8111 5921 or fire off a quote request. Mention you want to go through insurance: that's all we need to get moving. - Hand over the basics
Your insurer's name, your policy number, and a claim number if one's already been lodged. - We do the paperwork
We go straight to your insurer for approval and sort out payment between us and them. You stay off the phone queue. - Lock in a time
Approval in hand, we book the job for wherever suits: home, work or roadside. - Pay only your excess
In many cases your excess is the only money that leaves your pocket. The rest we bill to your insurer.
What You Will Need
Have these ready and the claim moves fast:
- Your insurer's name
- Your policy number
- A claim number, if you've already lodged one
- The vehicle's rego
- Make, model and year
- What the damage looks like and how it happened
- A phone number we can reach you on
Understanding Your Excess
The excess is your share of the claim; the rest is the insurer's problem. Worth knowing:
- Windscreen excesses commonly sit somewhere between $100 and $500, depending on the policy
- Plenty of policies carry a reduced excess just for glass
- Some comprehensive policies include windscreen cover with zero excess
- Your PDS (Product Disclosure Statement) has the exact figure, or your insurer can tell you in one call
The excess is paid to us on the day, by card, cash or bank transfer, whatever suits.
Will a Claim Affect My Premiums?
Usually not: a lot of insurers treat glass-only claims differently from at-fault accidents, so a single windscreen claim often leaves your no-claim bonus untouched. Every policy is different though, so if it's playing on your mind, put the question to your insurer before claiming.
Chip Repairs Through Insurance
Got a chip rather than a crack? Plenty of policies cover chip repairs without you paying a cent. And the earlier a chip gets filled, the better: one cold morning or one pothole is all it takes for it to run into a crack, and then you're up for a full windscreen replacement instead.
Fleet and Business Insurance
Running a fleet of utes, vans or trucks? We take the claims admin off your plate across every vehicle: account terms and consolidated invoicing included, so your books stay tidy. Give us a call to set it up.
Self-Funded Repairs
Insurance isn't always the smart play. Paying directly can work out better when:
- The repair costs less than your excess
- You've claimed before and don't want another mark on the record
- Glass simply isn't covered by your policy
Either way, you'll get a clear price up front. Ask for a quote: free, no obligation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to lodge the claim myself?
Usually not. With your say-so, we lodge with most insurers on your behalf. A handful insist on hearing from the policyholder first; if yours is one of them, we'll walk you through exactly what to say.
How long does approval take?
It varies by insurer, but glass claims are routine for them: some approve on the spot over the phone, and most come back quickly.
Can I choose my own repairer?
Yes, that's your legal right in Australia. Your insurer can suggest a repairer, but the final call on who touches your car is yours.
What if my claim is declined?
You'll get a sharp quote from us to pay for it directly, and remember, we beat any written quote. If you think the insurer got it wrong, we can help you put your case to them too.
